Changes to your voicemail service

Bell strives to continually provide our customers with the best mobile experience. At times, platform migrations are necessary to ensure the latest service offerings can be provided such as Voicemail to Text. Please note that if these changes affect you, there will be no impact to the cost of your voicemail service.

You will be migrated to the new platform if you make any of the following changes to your accounts starting October 29, 2009:

  • Moved from Message Centre to Message Centre Express
  • Moved from Postpaid to Prepaid service or Prepaid to Postpaid service with Message Centre
  • Moved from Prepaid Message Centre Express to Message Centre
  • Subscribed to a supplementary voicemail service such as Message Centre Plus

What the new platform means:

  • Voicemail can only be accessed by dialling the 10-digit mobile number from a mobile or landline phone.
  • Your voicemail menu options will change.
  • You will be prompted to set up your mailbox again (including personalizing your voicemail profile and greetings and setting passwords). A helpful tutorial will guide you through this the first time.

The following services will not be available to subscribers on the new voicemail platform:

  • Inter-messaging - the ability to send or receive messages to or from Bell Aliant wireline subscribers, or Bell Mobility subscribers, who remain on the old platform
  • Broadcast messaging - the ability to send broadcast messages to specific groups of users
  • Outcall notification - the ability to receive notifications on a pager (Message Alert) or on another number when new voicemail messages arrive
  • Message Centre Fax - the ability to receive, review and store fax messages
  • Toll-free or general voicemail numbers for message retrieval
